Suzy Bohan, newly appointed Director - Tourism at Tourism and Events Moreton Bay.

Tourism and Events Moreton Bay Appoints Director – Tourism

30 June 2026: Tourism and Events Moreton Bay has announced the promotion of experienced tourism leader Suzy Bohan to the newly created role of Director – Tourism, strengthening the organisation’s executive leadership as the Moreton Bay region continues its rapid emergence as one of Queensland’s fastest-growing visitor destinations.

The appointment comes at a pivotal time for the region, with record international visitor numbers, growing private investment and increasing momentum as Moreton Bay prepares to capitalise on the opportunities leading into the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Tourism and Events Moreton Bay CEO Luke Edwards said Bohan’s appointment reflects the organisation’s continued investment in building a mature, competitive and future-focused visitor economy.

“Suzy has been instrumental in helping shape the next phase of tourism growth in Moreton Bay,” Edwards said.

“She brings deep industry knowledge, strong operator relationships and a genuine commitment to helping our tourism businesses grow. Her ability to connect strategy with practical industry support has made a real difference across the region,” said Edwards.

“We’re fortunate to operate with a model that allows us to be agile, commercially minded and responsive to opportunities as they emerge. That means we can invest in destination marketing while also supporting industry capability, trade readiness and strategic partnerships that help local businesses grow.”

Edwards said Moreton Bay’s tourism industry had evolved significantly in recent years, but the next chapter would be about accelerating that momentum.

“We’re seeing increasing investment, more tourism businesses entering domestic and international markets and growing recognition of Moreton Bay as a destination in its own right. With Brisbane 2032 on the horizon, we have an incredible opportunity to continue building a visitor economy that delivers long-term benefits for local businesses and our community.”

Bohan said she was honoured to take on the role and excited to continue working alongside industry to unlock the region’s enormous potential.

“Moreton Bay is one of the most exciting tourism stories in Queensland right now,” Bohan said.

“We have passionate operators, extraordinary experiences and a region that is growing in confidence every year. What’s particularly exciting is that many of our tourism businesses are still on their journey, and helping them grow, become trade-ready and connect with new markets is incredibly rewarding.

“The opportunity ahead of us isn’t just Brisbane 2032. It’s building a tourism industry that is stronger, more resilient and more competitive for decades to come.

“I’m looking forward to continuing to work closely with our operators, City of Moreton Bay, Brisbane Economic Development Agency (BEDA) Tourism and Events Queensland and our many industry partners to ensure Moreton Bay continues to mature as a destination and delivers outstanding experiences for visitors.”

As Director – Tourism, Bohan will lead Tourism and Events Moreton Bay’s tourism portfolio, as the organisation continues to strengthen the Moreton Bay visitor economy.

Bohan joined Tourism & Events Moreton Bay in January 2024 and was promoted to General Manager – Tourism in March 2025. Prior to joining the organisation, she was Trade Manager at Tourism Whitsundays, Account Manager at Delta Air Lines and spent almost a decade in sales at Daydream Island Resort and Spa, bringing more than 20 years’ experience across destination marketing, aviation, trade and tourism operations.
