Heather brings over 20 years of diverse experience to the table, making her a true all-rounder in the communications field. She has worked across corporate and consumer PR, issues management, and event promotion, helping some of the world’s most recognised brands tell their stories and navigate complex challenges.

Her portfolio spans global and national brands like Tourism Australia, Tourism New Zealand, Carnival Cruise Lines, Alibaba Group, Yates, and FoodBank, Bonza, Qatar Airways, P&O and more – showcasing her ability to craft impactful campaigns that resonate. Heather’s expertise lies in delivering strategic communications solutions that drive results, no matter the brief.

Jennifer Swaine

CO FOUNDER | DIRECTOR

COMMUNICATIONS SPECIALIST

Jennifer is a seasoned marketing and communications strategist with over 30 years’ experience delivering results across diverse sectors. As Co-Founder of The Comms. People, she specialises in public relations, strategic communications, stakeholder engagement, and marketing leadership.

She currently serves as Chair of the Sunshine Coast Business Awards and is a Non-Executive Director of Visit Sunshine Coast. Known for her strategic thinking and relationship-first approach, Jennifer excels at building trust, clarifying complex messages, and delivering communications that drive measurable outcomes for organisations of all sizes.

Sam Swaine

COMMUNICATIONS AND CONTENT PRODUCTION MANAGER

As Communications and Content Production Manager, Sam leads the delivery of content, campaigns and client communications across The Comms. People portfolio.

Prior to joining the agency, Sam held senior stakeholder and client-facing roles across the racing, luxury and events industries, including Tour Lead for the Melbourne Cup Tour and Commercial Stakeholder Manager at Moonee Valley Racing Club. She has extensive experience managing high-profile events, working with high-net-worth clients and delivering outcomes in fast-paced, high-pressure environments.

Known for her calm and solutions-focused approach, Sam brings exceptional stakeholder management skills, strong organisational capability and a sharp eye for detail to every project.

Joshua Baird

CREATIVE DIRECTOR/VIDEOGRAPHER

Josh is an experienced videographer who has worked across Australia and internationally, producing tourism, destination and brand content for a range of organisations. His portfolio includes major events such as the Sydney to Hobart Yacht Race, Hamilton Island Race Week and the Mount Isa Rodeo.

Josh has extensive experience filming throughout Outback Queensland, demonstrating strong capability in remote environments and delivering high-quality content that reflects the region’s character and appeal. He has also produced video for industry groups, B2B brands and tourism operators, supporting digital campaigns and commercial marketing initiatives. With a disciplined creative approach and reliable on-ground execution, Josh consistently produces compelling visual content that meets strategic and commercial requirements.

Peter Wallis

PHOTOGRAPHER

Pete brings 25 years of editorial, corporate and commercial photography and film experience, including 16 years as a senior photographer at The Courier-Mail, where he covered major news events and high-profile assignments.

His portfolio spans extensive work across Outback Queensland, including the Mount Isa Rodeo, Birdsville Races and other regional events. Pete is skilled in operating in remote environments and capturing strong visual narratives that showcase the energy and authenticity of each location.

Combining deep editorial experience with commercial capability, Pete consistently delivers high-quality visual content that meets both media and brand requirements.

Luke Marsden

PHOTOGRAPHER

Luke brings more than 20 years of professional photography experience and has earned multiple industry awards, including News Limited Australia’s Photographer of the Year (2014). He began his career in newspapers, starting in the darkroom and progressing to roles at The Sunday Mail and The Courier-Mail.

His portfolio spans major editorial, commercial and destination projects, including commissioned work for Tourism and Events Queensland, Netflix, Magic Millions and extensive coverage of the Mount Isa Rodeo. Luke’s strong technical capability and narrative approach enable him to deliver high-quality, impactful imagery across diverse environments.
