Monday 16 September: The Moreton Bay region is flying into school holidays as the annual Vietjet Redcliffe KiteFest wraps up another successful year. Over 30,000 visitors came through the gates this weekend including locals and visitors from Queensland, inter-state and as far afield as New Zealand and Vietnam. They enjoyed record weather conditions with clear skies and wind getting around 50 kites into the air.
Among the highlights is a special performance by ARIA Award Winner Emma Watkins, beloved by families across the nation as Emma Memma.
“Vietjet Redcliffe KiteFest has stunned again. Over 30,000 people over two days with beautiful weather. This event is always a key driver for visitation to the Moreton Bay Region and this year we are seeing people travelling here from NSW, Victoria and right across Australia,” said Tash Wheeler, CEO of Visit Moreton Bay.
“We are excited for the school holidays ahead. Reports from tourism operators right around the region from the Redcliffe Peninsula to the Hinterland to up to Bribie Island – they are fast selling out so if you want to get a last minute spring school holiday away, get booking now,” she added.
