13 September 2025: Strawberry picking season is in full bloom across Moreton Bay, and with spring school holidays beginning next week, local farmers are preparing for a bumper fortnight of visitors through to the King’s Birthday long weekend.
From 20 September to 6 October, Oasis Berries on Bribie Island Road will run daily pick-your-own sessions, with fields so abundant that farm pickers are harvesting up to 50 trays from each row.
At Rolin Farms, the experience stretches beyond the patch, with farm-made ice cream, jumbo strawberries and a playground for kids.
And for those who’d rather skip the picking and savour the flavours, Strawberry View Café offers a strawberry-inspired menu paired with sweeping views of the Glass House Mountains.
Luke Edwards, CEO of Tourism and Events Moreton Bay, said strawberry picking has become a school holiday tradition in the region.
“We see visitors from across South East Queensland driving to Moreton Bay to pick their own strawberries direct from the farm. It’s part of a growing trend in agri-tourism and, with its proximity to Brisbane, Moreton Bay is perfectly placed to offer these farm-gate experiences,” Mr Edwards said.
“Agri-tourism has also been called out in the Queensland Government’s Destination 2045 plan, which includes a goal of introducing 45 new ecotourism experiences by 2045 – including agri-tourism projects. Activities like strawberry picking have the potential to play a bigger role in our visitor economy as travellers seek more authentic experiences,” he added.
With Moreton Bay producing around a third of Australia’s strawberries, the season has become a signature experience for both locals and visitors. For farmers, it’s an opportunity to showcase their produce and welcome families onto the land, while for visitors it’s a chance to make lasting memories in the heart of Queensland’s strawberry capital.
