4 June 2026: As Australians head across the Tasman for the ski season, a new way to experience Queenstown has arrived with the opening of Bathe by Aluume – the town’s first centrally located hot pool experience.
Positioned on Brecon Street, just moments from Queenstown’s restaurants, bars, hotels and ski transport hubs, Bathe by Aluume offers visitors the chance to soak in premium hot pools without leaving the heart of town.
Opening ahead of the winter season, the new wellness destination combines alpine views, contemporary design and restorative hot-water immersion, creating the ideal après-ski experience for Australian travellers.
The launch follows national recognition for Aluume Wellness, with the project recently receiving Bathe by Aluume receiving a 2026 New Zealand Institute of Architects Southern Architecture Award, highlighting its distinctive design and contribution to Queenstown’s evolving wellness landscape.
Aluume Wellness founder Tim McMahon said Bathe fills a gap in Queenstown’s visitor offering.
“Queenstown has long been known as New Zealand’s adventure capital, but until now there hasn’t been a premium hot pool experience right in the centre of town,” McMahon said.
“We’re excited to welcome Australian visitors this winter with an experience that allows them to step off the slopes, out of the restaurants or away from the adventure activities and into a space designed purely for relaxation and recovery.”
Bathe features six architecturally designed hot pools, including one communal pool and five private pools overlooking mature trees, landscaped gardens and mountain views stretching towards Coronet Peak.
Designed as a contemporary interpretation of traditional hot springs, the experience caters to both travellers seeking quiet restoration and groups looking to socialise after a day exploring the region.
“Australians already have a strong connection with Queenstown and we know wellness is becoming a bigger part of how people travel,” McMahon said.
“Bathe gives visitors another reason to extend their stay, particularly during winter when there is nothing better than sinking into warm water while surrounded by alpine scenery.”
The project reflects Aluume’s commitment to creating world-class wellness experiences grounded in exceptional architecture.
The award-winning design balances natural materials, privacy and landscape integration, creating a sanctuary that feels removed from the energy of downtown Queenstown despite being only steps away from it.
Communal soak sessions start from NZ$55 per person, while private pools are available from NZ$95 per session.
Bookings are now open at www.aluume.com.
