2 September 2025: Machjet International has officially completed construction of its brand-new 4,600m² hangar at Sunshine Coast Airport, further cementing the region’s reputation as a hub for premium aviation services.
Built to house the largest private jets on the market, the hangar offers flexibility to accommodate a wide variety of aircraft at any one time – from up to four Code C aircraft such as a Global Express, to six Challenger 605s, plus a number of smaller private jets such as Citations.
Simon McDermott, Managing Director of Machjet International, said the final phase of work marks a major milestone for the Queensland-based company.
“We’re really excited to be in the final stages of this project. This hangar is purpose-built to meet the growing demand for executive jet and specialist aviation services, and it will allow us to support everything from luxury charter flights to aeromedical retrievals,” Mr McDermott said.
“In addition to the new hangar space, Machjet will introduce a premium executive lounge for travellers in the coming months, further enhancing its 24-hour Fixed Base Operations at the Sunshine Coast. Existing facilities already include private VIP lounges, executive boardrooms, and dedicated crew amenities, ensuring a seamless experience from arrival to departure.
The new development also boosts Machjet’s ability to deliver critical missions such as urgent organ transfers, aeromedical retrievals, and time-sensitive freight transport.
“Every mission is personal – whether we’re flying executives across the Pacific or moving an organ for lifesaving surgery. This hangar gives us the flexibility, safety, and space to deliver that service at a world-class level,” Mr McDermott said.
Machjet’s expansion reflects growing demand for premium aviation in the region and underlines the Sunshine Coast’s strategic importance in the lead-up to and beyond the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
