22 October 2026: Avani Mooloolaba Beach Hotel will host weddings for the first time, releasing its first wedding packages for couples planning to marry in 2027.
Since opening on the Sunshine Coast in May, the 180-room hotel, which is developed, owned and operated by KPAT Hotels, has been busy with locals and visitors from across Australia and overseas. Its wedding offer centres on the Level 3 Avani Ballroom, which is booked for one wedding at a time and opens onto its own bar, promenade and alfresco terrace.
General Manager Scott Wright said the hotel’s point of difference was keeping the whole celebration under one roof in arguably Queensland’s hottest new hotels.
“What we can offer is the whole weekend in one spectacular place. Couples can start with welcome drinks in the Lobby Bar, hold the reception in a ballroom that’s booked for them alone, and finish with a long lunch at Sully’s Rooftop overlooking the ocean the next day.
And because guests are staying at one of the Sunshine Coast’s newest hotels, it’s easy for them to make a weekend of it in Mooloolaba, with the beach, the Esplanade and the rooftop pool on their doorstep.”
The hotel expects the packages to be popular with couples from interstate and overseas looking for a destination wedding. With Sunshine Coast Airport around 15 minutes away and Brisbane 90 minutes by road, guests can fly in, stay on site and turn the wedding into a short coastal break.
The hotel also gives couples plenty of options for wedding photos without leaving the building, from its contemporary coastal interiors by Queensland designer Taryn Raso, with their curved forms, warm timber and travertine, to the Level 12 rooftop pool, where the views across Mooloolaba Beach to Point Cartwright are at their best at sunset.
The ballroom seats up to 100 guests at long tables or 120 at round tables, and holds 200 for a cocktail-style reception. Four reception packages are available, ranging from a single-course seated dinner to a three-course menu or a cocktail format, each with five hours of ballroom use. Beverage packages can be added to any reception.
The hotel has also introduced a three-day all-inclusive package for 70 guests. It includes a welcome gathering in the Lobby Bar the night before, two nights’ accommodation in eight Ocean King rooms and an Ocean Suite for the couple, the reception with a five-hour premium beverage package, and lunch for up to 20 guests at Sully’s Rooftop the following day.
Menus are developed by Executive Chef Hamish Pink using produce from Sunshine Coast farmers, fishers and growers, including Mooloolaba prawns and Rocky Point cobia. Couples can bring in a cake from their own baker, which the kitchen serves as dessert.
The hotel has not set a minimum guest number, so couples can plan around the guest list they want. Every wedding booking also includes two nights in an Ocean Suite for the couple.
“Some couples want 30 people, some want 200. We’d rather they plan around the guest list they actually want than a number we’ve set,” Wright said.
Ends.
