16 September 2026: Moreton Bay’s evolution as one of South East Queensland’s emerging short-break destinations has reached a new milestone, with the multimillion-dollar transformation of Peppers Clear Mountain now complete.
Set across 20 hectares of bushland overlooking the Glass House Mountains, the former Mercure Clear Mountain has been transformed into the 51-room Peppers Clear Mountain, becoming Moreton Bay’s first five-star hotel and introducing a new premium accommodation offering to the region.
Just a short drive from Brisbane, the mountain retreat combines bushland, dining, wellness and accommodation, adding another dimension to a Moreton Bay escape beyond the region’s beaches, bays and waterways.
Tourism and Events Moreton Bay CEO Luke Edwards said the opening reflected the changing face of tourism in Moreton Bay and growing confidence in the destination.
“Moreton Bay has traditionally been somewhere Brisbane visitors know well for a day trip, but increasingly we’re seeing the region evolve into a destination where people want to stay, slow down and explore,” Edwards said.
“Peppers Clear Mountain is a significant addition to our accommodation offering and gives visitors a completely different way to experience Moreton Bay.
“You can be in Brisbane and, not long afterwards, find yourself surrounded by bushland overlooking the Glass House Mountains. That accessibility is one of the great strengths of Moreton Bay, and having a premium retreat of this calibre gives people another compelling reason to turn a day out into an overnight or weekend escape.”
The transformation has included a complete refurbishment of all 51 guest rooms along with new-look dining, event and leisure spaces.
At the heart of the property is The Glasshouse Restaurant, where a statement fireplace, lounge areas, contemporary bar and two private dining rooms create a relaxed destination dining experience for hotel guests, locals and visitors.
A Chef’s Garden will supply seasonal produce for the restaurant, while the surrounding grounds have also been refreshed with a new pool deck and furnishings among the treetops, improvements to Serenity Lawn and upgraded connections between the Pavilion and vineyard.
Guests also have access to a dedicated billiard room and newly equipped gym.
For couples and groups looking for a Brisbane hinterland escape, the property adds a premium stay to a part of Moreton Bay known for its winding country roads, mountain scenery and relaxed rural character.
The redevelopment also strengthens Moreton Bay’s offering for destination weddings, conferences and corporate retreats, with refreshed venues accommodating up to 150 guests.
The hotel now forms part of the Peppers collection of retreats and resorts across Australia, New Zealand and Indonesia.
Peppers Clear Mountain stays start from $309 per night, including breakfast for two.
