NRL Star Moses Mbye Launches Sunshine Coast Youth Program with SunnyKids

9 April 2026: NRL player Moses Mbye has partnered with SunnyKids to launch a new youth-focused school holiday program on the Sunshine Coast this week, aimed at building confidence, resilience and healthy relationships among local young people.

Kicking off today, the pilot initiative will deliver structured day camps combining rugby league skills with wellbeing education, providing a safe and supportive environment for children aged 10 to 16.

Developed in collaboration with ADAPT, the program is designed to engage young people through sport while reinforcing key messages around teamwork, respect and positive decision-making.

SunnyKids CEO Kathleen Hope said the program represents a proactive approach to supporting young people before issues escalate.

“Early intervention is critical in shaping positive outcomes for children and young people,” Ms Hope said.

“By creating a safe, engaging environment where kids can build confidence and learn about healthy relationships, we are investing in stronger futures for our community.”
The clinics will be delivered across multiple Sunshine Coast locations during the school holidays, ensuring accessibility for local families while maintaining a strong focus on inclusion and affordability.

Moses Mbye said he is committed to using his platform to make a meaningful impact beyond the field.

“This program is about more than just footy – it’s about giving kids the tools to build confidence, respect others and make positive choices in their everyday lives,” Mr Mbye said.

“If we can create an environment where they feel supported and inspired, that’s where real change starts.”

Each session will combine on-field training with structured indoor workshops and a dedicated wellbeing module delivered by SunnyKids, focusing on emotional resilience, healthy habits and respectful relationships.

Ms Hope said initiatives like this play a vital role in strengthening community outcomes.

“Programs that engage young people in a positive and practical way are essential in breaking cycles of disadvantage and supporting long-term wellbeing.”

SunnyKids will evaluate the pilot program with a view to expanding the initiative as part of its broader prevention and early intervention strategy.

The pilot program commenced this week at Noosa Pirates Junior Rugby League Club and will continue at Beerwah Bulldogs Junior Rugby League Club on 14–15 April.

Ends.
